What is Havan?
 


This is an age-old Hindu ritual in which offerings of different substances like ghee, googol, sweet, dry fruits, rice and other saamaagri into the sacred fire is

done. This is accompanied by enchanting of Sanskrit mantras. This is also known as Yajana or Homa.


This is one of the ten positive virtues or niyam that is prescribed for the devotees who are  willing to draw closer to the Divine and ultimately acquiring

Oneness with Him. According to the tenets of Sanatan Dharma,it is also one of man’s five daily duties.

 

 


Why is Havan performed?
 


Havan is performed by the Hindu pandits in the temple, house or work place to purify the environment. This involves the offering of AHUTIS to the Agni

God.

 

We do Havan to remove the negative energies from our minds,to get rid of negative patterns of life and to neutralise the negative effects and evils of

others.

 

Havan also brings high energies into our minds and body thereby paving way for the positive thoughts, actions etc. to enter into our life. They help in re-

vitalizing the three energies in our body (Vata, Pitta and Kapha) and help in maintaining the energy balance.
 

 

In nutshell, Havan does the following thing:


1.It bestow on us the  blessings and grace of God


2. It provides positive energy and  revitalise us.


3. It cleans our body and mind


4. It cleans the atmosphere.

 

 

When should Havan be performed?

 

Normally Havan is performed in the early hours of the day after taking shower and wearing clean clothes. A clean place is selected in the premises where

the Havan has to be performed. The people performing the rituals , also called yajmans, sit in a comfortable position to perform Havan.


The timing of the Havan varies from the type of Havans, but mot of these are performed in the morning.

 

How should Havan be performed?
 


A clean place is selected for the Havan. Participants should shower, wear clean clothes and sit in easy postures. After prayers, fire is lit Vedic Mantras are
